Natural white Shetland wool gloves

natural white shetland wool gloves hand knit at roses workshop

I have used a natural white Shetland wool for these lovely fingerless gloves. The design is narrow cables on the back, and plain on the palm. They have a ribbed cuff to slip under your coat to keep the draughts out.

As usual I have used traditional knitting needles to create these gloves, not a machine. I use a technique called "knitting-in-the-round" so there are no ugly uncomfortable seams.

The gloves end in a band of rib, leaving your fingertips clear to use your phone or doorkey easily. They measure 21cm long including the cuff, 14cm for the hand section, and the knit is stretchy enough to fit most average adult hands. The sweet little “Roses Workshop” brand label is laser etched faux leather.

The Shetland sheep is from the Scottish islands, one of the smallest British breeds. They produce fine soft wool in many natural shades of browns and greys as well as white, differing from sheep to sheep.
